Webinar series on the role of entrepreneurship policies in the resurgence of the MSME sector

Webinar series on the role of entrepreneurship policies in the resurgence of the MSME sector cover page
The webinars aimed at raising awareness of the role of entrepreneurship policies in the MSME resurgence and of UNCTAD's Entrepreneurship Policy Framework. Bridging gaps between theory and practice is essential to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. To this end, public policies are the formal means for landing obligations embeded in legal frameworks, as well as those voluntary commitments from different sources at the national and international level. Policies allow the cohesion and articulation of strategies to undertake concrete actions with impact on the collective welfare.

Dialogue spaces represents an opportunity to enhance capabilities and share good practices towards a culture of learning. It allows fostering the competences required by policymakers and practitioners to face different challenges through constructive responses.

UNCTAD, in partnership with UNITAR hosted a first series of 8 online discussions on the impact of the global pandemic on entrepreneurship and MSMEs, showcasing good practices across the world on Fintechgreenagriblue, inclusive and resilient entrepreneurship. The discussions were attended by more than 2500 participants.

A second series of online events is focused on raising awareness of the e-learning course on “Policy making for sustainable entrepreneurship”.

As the governments of South Africa, Uganda and Seychelles are developing National Entrepreneurship Strategies (NES), a virtual session took place, aimed at promoting a better understanding of the importance of facilitating entrepreneurship for sustainable development and highlighted the different policy objectives of these three countries and the contribution of entrepreneurship strategies to these objectives. Under the framework of this event, the English version of the e-learning course on “Policy making for sustainable entrepreneurship” was launched.

The programme of the event can be found here. The video recording is available here.
