Adhoc Expert group meeting to validate studies in Southern Africa

The main objective of the meeting was to provide a platform for experts to deliberate, gather comments, inputs and provide recommendations that will inform two studies being prepared for the Southern Africa Region; as well as, to ensure their relevance to policymakers and other relevant stakeholders in Southern Africa in the context of building back better post-Covid-19.

Workshops - Policy toolkits to stream MSME formalization and inclusive delivery of formalization services

In partnerships with the Government of The Gambia, the Government of Kenya and UN Country Teams, two workshops were organized on enhancing MSME formalization and its contribution to MSME resilience. The workshops received over 300 participants, including the Vice President of The Gambia, the Senior Advisor of the President of Kenya, policymakers and MSME entrepreneurs. Four reports were also delivered to facilitate the formulation of coherent policy environment conducive for MSME formalization
Regional capacity building events to raise awareness of the role of competition related policies for access to markets in post COVID-19 resurgence of MSMEs

The National Workshop of Bhutan took place on 25 April 2022. It enhanced the knowledge and capacity of the stakeholders on MSME development to foster a favorable ecosystem for financial inclusion and sustainability, mainly through strengthening MSME clustering and digital financial solutions for MSMEs. The workshop also enhanced the resilience of MSMEs in Bhutan to mitigate the economic and social impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and facilitate MSMEs’ contributions to implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
